Allied Glazing FC Win The South Yorkshire Business Premiership Title – Winter 06/07

Last night (6th February) saw Allied Glazing make it two in a row as they successfully defended their Premiership title with Phoenix taking the runners up spot!
Allied Glazing FC become not only the first team to win two Business Premiership titles in a row, but along with their victory in the Autumn 2005 season become the only team to have won three Business Premiership titles.
This season they were pushed all the way by a talented Phoenix side but a 9-1 victory in their last match secured the record breaking third title for the team. It is without question a fantastic team effort that has brought them not only this title but all three. A special mention has to go to the leadership of team captain Ian Buckley, the firepower of Gavin Davis who currently has 129 all time goals to his name and goalkeeper Mathew Read who only conceded ten goals all season!

It was bad luck for runners up Phoenix who amazingly finished the season with the only unbeaten record in the league – however even this could not prise the title away from Allied Glazing. The Phoenix team who ended the season with four players in the golden boot table - Lewis Fothergill, Paul O’Shea, Stephen Sayles and Daniel Hoyler - will feel they have the skills to eventually take the Premiership title and will no doubt be looking to go one better next season!

The golden boot went to Allied Glazing’s Gavin Davis with a record of 26 goals just edging out rival Lewis Fothergill from Phoenix by two goals. It was the third time Gavin Davis has taken the award - a fantastic achievement by the star striker!

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Allied Glazing as Matthew Read picked up the award for the second season in a row.

The new season kicks off on 13th February and with the league merging with The Sheffield Tuesday Night League it looks like being another fantastic season!
