Allied Glazing F.C. Win The South Yorkshire Business Premiership – Autumn 2005
30 Nov 2005
Last night (29th November) saw last season's runners up, Allied Glazing FC, go one better and win the South Yorkshire Buisness Premiership title!
Going into last night's matches, Allied Glazing stood two points clear of title rivals W. Wrights knowing victory in their last match would confirm them as champions. Allied Glazing held their nerve and lead by team captain Ian Buckley cruised home with a comprehensive 11-3 victory over GB FC, which confirmed them as champions for the Autumn 2005 season.

League runners up W. Wrights pushed them all the way which made for a fascinating contest, with both teams having commanding postitions during the season. W. Wrights were hoping to win back to back titles after winning the Championship last season and it was certainly an impressive first season in the Premiership for the Wrights team. Two previous winners of the league – Norfolk ‘N’ Chance and Carcraft FC – finished third and fourth respectively. Mayflower also completed a solid first season in the Premiership after being promoted, by finishing fifth. Millgate ended the season in sixth but were comfortably seven points clear of the drop zone. The unlucky two sides to be relegated are GB FC and The Trojans.

The race for the golden boot went down to the wire with two players from Allied Glazing – Gavin Davis and Luke Parwana - going into the last match joint top on 24 goals each. In the end there was nothing between the two team mates who both fired hat tricks in the last match to end up on 27 goals each and share the golden boot! To have two players end the season on 27 goals is a great achievement and are perhaps two big reasons why Allied Glazing are champions!

All teams played their part in what was a great season and we look forward to another exciting Winter 2005/06 season, which kicks off on 13th December.
