Chesterfield Monday Night League Winners and Season Report – Summer 2011

Monday 17th October saw the climax to another sensational season in The Chesterfield Monday Night League. Legion Of Doom were crowned Premiership champions for the first time in their history and Wingfield Wanderers finished as runners up. In the Championship division, Out of Retirement stormed to the title and gain promotion, along with runners up Paralytic Athletic.
A new name was engraved on the Premiership trophy this season, as Legion of Doom clinched the title by just one point. The Premiership has been dominated by Wingerworth and Wingfield Wanderers over the last few years. However, Legion of Doom played some scintillating football this season and held off the challenge from both former champions. They are well deserved winners and the question is can they now go on to dominant the league!

The golden boot was won by Wingerworth hot shot Anthony Lyne for the second season in a row.
The golden glove was won by Wingfield Wanderers with a record of just 15 goals conceded.
In the Championship division, Out of Retirement completed an amazing season. The team lost just once all season and clinched the title thirteen points clear of their nearest rival. It was a lesson in total football from Out of Retirement, as they fired in 100 goals on their way to the title and had four players in the golden boot table. They look like being a real force in the Premiership next season. Paralytic Athletic finished runners up and are promoted to the Premiership for the first time in their history.

The golden boot was won by Josh Thomas from Out of Retirement, with a season tally of 40 goals.
The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Out of Retirement, as they won the award with a record of 27 goals conceded.
