Wingfield Wanderers Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership Title – Spring 2011

Monday 23rd May saw Wingfield Wanderers crowned Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership champions. Wingerworth FC finished as runners up and CSKA Moocow finished in third.
Wingfield Wanderers, led by captain Matthew Edinboro, completed a fantastic season which saw them clinch the title four points ahead of runners up Wingerworth FC. Wingfield Wanderers have often found themselves having to play second fiddle to a superb Wingerworth FC side. However, they have wrestled the title away from their great rivals in sensational style this season. A 2-0 victory over Wingerworth on the penultimate night of this season, confirmed them as well deserved champions. It is Wingfield Wanderers’ second Premiership crown in their history, winning their first back in the Summer 2009 season. They will now be hoping they can make it back to back titles next season and become the new dominant force in the Premiership!
Wingerworth FC’s dream of making it four titles in a row ended in disappointment this season, as they had to settle for the runners up place. However, the team have an amazing record in the league and are true legends, who will no doubt be back fighting as hard as ever to regain their title next season.
The golden boot was some consolation for Wingerworth FC, as hot shot Anthony Lyne won the award for an amazing fourth time. Anthony fired in 19 goals this season, which has taken his all time record over the 200 goal mark to a staggering 207 goals! Another incredible stat is that a Wingerworth player has now won the golden boot six seasons in a row!
The golden glove capped a great season for the newly crowned Premiership champions, as Wingfield Wanderers won the award with a record of just 21 goals conceded.
