Match Night news:

Wingerworth FC Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership Title – Autumn 2010

10 Feb 2011

Monday 31st January saw Wingerworth FC crowned Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership winners. CSKA Moocow clinched the runners up spot and Wingfield Wanderers finished in third.

The records keep tumbling for Wingerworth FC, as they become the first team to win three Premiership titles in a row.  Led by captain Paul Myers, the team have shown amazing consistency and some sensational performances over the last three seasons.  This season’s title triumph included an incredible 20-0 victory over Sporting Lesbian, which is the highest winning margin ever recorded in The Chesterfield 6 a side League.  The stats speak for themselves - an example of Wingerworth’s dominance over the last three seasons is the fact they have only lost twice in forty eight games!  The team now have a total of six titles to their name and will no doubt be looking to add a seventh next season.  However, the competition is getting stronger and they will have a real battle on their hands next season.

Wingerworth FC - three Premiership titles in a row

CSKA Moocow followed up last season’s Championship title with a fantastic first season in the top flight, which saw them clinch a well deserved runners up spot.  Captain Stephen Reed-Aspley can be proud of what the team have achieved in such a short time and will be looking to build on this to mount another title challenge next season.  Wingfield Wanderers had another good season finishing in third.  Over recent season’s the team have struggled to recapture the form of their glorious Spring 2009 season, which saw them win their only Premiership title.  However, they will no doubt hope to be serious title contenders again next season.

The golden boot was won for the second season in a row by Wingerworth’s hot shot Waine Bexton, with a record of 23 goals.   It is an impressive record, however, he’ll have to win it again next season to match the record held by his team mate, Anthony Lyne, who has won it three times in a row!  Wingerworth FC have pretty much owned the golden boot in recent years winning it five consecutive times!

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Wingerworth FC as they won the award for the third season in a row, with a record of 22 goals conceded, just three ahead of Wingfield Wanderers in second.

Congratulations to all teams that took part in a great season.
