Match Night news:

Wingerworth FC Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership Title – Spring 2010

18 Sep 2010

Monday 19th July saw Wingerworth FC crowned Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership winners. Wingfield Wanderers finished in the runners up spot.

Wingerworth FC, led by captain Paul Myers, have made it two titles in a row and their fifth of all time in spectacular fashion.  The team stormed to this season’s crown with a perfect record of 16 wins out of 16.  It is the first time in the history of the Premiership that a team has finished with a 100% record.  Wingerworth have now not lost a game in two seasons a total of 32 games.  This achievement stamps the team’s authority once again on the league and are arguably the best team ever to grace the pitch at Tupton.

Wingerworth FC - five time winners

Wingfield Wanderers, led by Matt Edinboro, had to settle for the runners up spot for the second consecutive season.   Wingfield Wanderers have been the only real challenges to Wingerworth FC over the last few seasons.  They will be hoping to recapture the form of their summer 2009 title winning season and halt the Wingerworth FC machine next time around.  Pathetico Madrid followed up their promotion from the Championship last season to complete a superb season finishing in third.  The question is, can they break the dominance that Wingfield Wanderers and Wingerworth have had over the top two spots in recent seasons?

The golden boot went to Wingerworth’s Wayne Bexton with a season tally of 27 goals.  Wayne passed the 100 career goal milestone this season and now has two golden boots to his name, after winning his first one back in the summer 2007 season.

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Wingerworth as they picked up the award with a record of just 22 goals conceded.

Congratulations to all teams that took part in a great season.
