Match Night news:

Carcraft F.C. win The South Yorkshire Business Premiership - Summer 2005!

17 Aug 2005

Last night (16th August) saw Carcraft round off an impressive season and be crowned South Yorkshire Business Premiership Champions for the summer 2005 season!

After an indifferent first month to the season Carcraft F.C. put together a staggering run of 10 straight wins to finish the season with a 4-2 victory over GB FC and confirmed as champions by five clear points.

Carcraft F.C. Premiership Champions!

Carcraft F.C only lost two matches in the whole season - once to Fa Kin Su Pah (the eventual runners up) and also to third placed Millgate. Carcraft's improved team managed to beat both of these teams in the return matches, confirming them as deserved winners. Star striker Martin Kitridge weighed in with an impressive 27 goals over the season but it was a strong team effort and great leadership from captain marvel Alan Pickard which were the main reasons why the title went to Carcraft.

The celebration begins!

Congratulations also to Fa Kin Su Pah who finished runners up in an impressive first season. They completed their season with a 4-2 victory over the Trojans. It was another good season for last season's runners up Millgate, who finished third and completed their season with a 3-3 draw against the ever improving NWT Freight.

Fa Kin Su Pah - league runners ups!

In a close relegation battle last season's champions Norfolk 'N' Chance completed a tough season with a 5-1 win against Dynamo, which ensured they survived but sent Dynamo down to the Championship - with NWT the other relegated team.

The race for the golden boot was another fascinating contest with three players - Nick Allan (Millgate), Martin Kitridge (Carcraft) and Gavin Davis (Fa Kin Su Pah) going into the last night of the season separated by just three goals. However, it was Nick Allan from Millgate who held his nerve and with a little help from his team mates, fired in a hat trick. His final goal, which confirmed him as the golden boot winner, came with just a couple of minutes left to play!! Not bad for a player who played in goal last season!

Nick Allan golden boot winner with 32 goals!

All teams played their part in what was a great season. The top five sides were all in the race for the title going into the last month and there was certainly no such thing as any easy three points in this league! With all of these teams continuing in the league next season and with the two promoted teams from the Championship - Mayflower and W. Wrights - joining the race for the title, it will be impossible to pick a winner for the autumn 2005 season!

The new season kicks off on 30th August.
