Match Night news:

Wingerworth F.C. Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership – Autumn 2008

06 Apr 2009

Monday 23rd March saw Wingerworth F.C. crowned Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership winners for the second season in a row. Y.U.K. were confirmed as runners up.

Wingerworth F.C. completed their record breaking season in style, with a 9-0 thrashing of Clay Cross Cricket Club, to take the title seven points clear of their nearest rival.  Led by captain Paul Myers, the team finished the season undefeated, with the only points they dropped coming in a 3-3 draw with Wingfield Wanderers.  Wingerworth can now boast a collection of records that include: the only team to win the Premiership three times, the only team to successfully defend the title and the only team to complete a Premiership season undefeated (which they have achieved twice).  It is a truly legendary record and with three Premiership titles to their name they are now officially the greatest team to have played in The Chesterfield Monday Night League.  The question is, can anyone stop them making it four next season?

Wingerworth FC - three times Premiership winners!

Y.U.K. completed a good season to take the runners up spot.  The team, led by Jamie Scoffings, now have an impressive record of one title and two runners up spots to their name and will feel they can mount a serious challenge for the title next season.  Dirty Dozen followed up promotion from the Championship last season with an impressive season long display which saw them finish in third.  It was not such a good  story for Pathetico Madrid, who were promoted with Dirty Dozen last season, but are now relegated along with Norfolk ‘n’ Chance.

The golden boot went to Wingerworth star striker Anthony Lyne with a fantastic season tally of 32 goals.  The second best all time Premiership record and the best record ever since in a nine team division.

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Wingerworth as they picked up the award with a record of just 14 goals conceded.

Congratulations to all teams that took part in a great season.
