Match Night news:

Hemerage Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership – Spring 2008

14 May 2008

Monday 28th April saw Hemerage clinch their first ever Premiership title, just one point clear of Y.U.K. who were confirmed as runners up.

In a fantastic season the Hemerage team, led by captain Mark Mowbray, put their disappointment of finishing runners up in the two previous season behind them, to clinch a well deserved first Premiership title!  Since the team’s promotion from the Championship four seasons ago, the team have always excelled in the top flight, never finishing out of the top four.  It was a real team effort that brought them the title, highlighted by the fact their goals were scored from throughout the team and they finished the season with the best defensive record.  Hemerage showed great consistency and determination this season and held their nerve on the last night to record a 2-0 win over Clay Cross Casuals to ensure they took home the Premiership title!   They will no doubt be looking to add to the team’s impressive record with back to back title wins next season - a feat no team has yet achieved!

Y.U.K, champions in the winter 07 season, pushed Hemerage right to the wire - ending the season an agonising one point behind Hemerage. However, lead by captain Jamie Scoffings, the team can congratulate themselves on a great season.  The Y.U.K team finished five points clear in second place making them well deserved runners up.  They will feel they now have a real chance to  reclaim the title again next season and equal Two Left Feet’s record of two Premiership titles!  Last season’s winners Wingerworth finished in third and also finished as the league’s top scorers with 47 goals in sixteen games.

The golden boot was won by Y.U.K hot shot Mark White with 21 goals.

The golden glove went to newly crowned champions Hemerage for the second time in three seasons.

Congratulations to all teams that took part in a great season.
