Match Night news:

Wingerworth FC storm to The Chesterfield Premiership Title – Autumn 2007

18 Dec 2007

Monday 3rd December saw Wingerworth FC crowned Premiership champions in their first season with Hemerage taking the runners up spot!

In a fantastic first season in the league, Wingerworth FC completed an undefeated season with a 8-0 win over Pathetico Madrid on the final night to be crowned Premiership champions.  Led by team captain Paul Myers and with the fire power of Wayne Bexton (15), Anthony Lyne (10) and Andrew Powers (8) the team were just too hot to handle and eventually won  the title by eight clear points.  It was, however, an all round team effort that brought them the title highlighted by the team having three players in the golden boot table and only conceding four goals, which is a new all time Chesterfield record!  They will no doubt be looking to do what no team has yet to achieve, which is successfully defend the title next season!

It was bad luck for Hemerage who finished runners up for the second season in a row, but will feel that elusive title is not far away and can be proud of another excellent season in the top flight.  Europoint FC impressed after promotion last season and equitted themselves well to the Premiership finishing in third place.

The golden boot went to Wayne Bexton of Wingerworth FC with 15 goals just edging out team mate Anthony Lyne and Europoint’s Tom McCarthy in second.

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Wingerworth FC as they took the award with just four goals conceded a record that will be hard to beat!

Congratulations to all teams that took part in a great season.
