Harchester United Reserves Win The Macclesfield Sunday Night Premiership Title – Summer 2007

25 Sep 2007

Harchester Untied Reserves were crowned the first ever winners of The Macclesfield Sunday Night Premiership with Adelphi Group taking the runners up spot!

Led by team captain Chris Roddy the Harchester team set the pace right from the word go, with six straight wins to take the title with a couple of games to spare!   The team fired in 44 goals on their way to the title, with an amazing five players finishing the season on the golden boot table!  Namely, Ben Harding (12), Alastair Breed (9), Simon Hinchcliffe (8), Colin Hinchcliffe (6) and Nick Kershaw (6).  Along with this firepower, perhaps the main reason for Harchester’s Premiership win is their solid defensive record, only conceding 9 goals all season, some 12 better than their nearest rival!

The team, however, did not have it all their own way and were pushed hard by Adams Boys in the first half of the season and the ever improving Adelphi Group, who were the only team to beat the champions all season!    The Harchester team have now become the first ever winners of The Macclesfield Sunday Night Premiership title and will no doubt be looking to make it back to back titles next season!

Harchester United Reserves - Premiership Winners!

The runners up spot went to Adelphi Group who rounded off their season in style with a 10-0 victory over Macc-a-teers to end Macc-a-teers faint hopes of survival and condemning them to Championship football next season.  The Adelphi team got off to a shaky start with two defeats in their opening two games, but led by team captain Martin Davies strung a fantastic six match winning run to take the runners up spot ahead of third placed Adams Boys.   The team will now feel they can continue their impressive form into the new season and mount a serious challenge for the title next season!

Adelphi Group - Premiership Runners Up!

The golden boot went to star Adelphi Group striker Tom Parkinson who finished the season on an impressive 18 goals just edging out Martin Firth from Adams Boys in second.

Tom Parkinson - 18 goals!

The golden boot completed a great season for Harchester United Reserves who took the award way ahead of the rest of the field with a record of just 9 goals conceded!
