Two Left Feet Win The Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership – Spring 2007
23 Aug 2007
Monday 20th August saw Two Left Feet crowned Chesterfield Monday Night Premiership winners for the second time in their history with Hemerage taking the runners up spot!
In an incredible climax to the season the fixture list threw up an end of season decider! After 15 matches each, Two Left Feet and Hemerage clashed on the last night of the season with just one point between them, in a winner takes all game. It was, however, Two Left Feet who held their nerve to win 2-0 and clinch their second title in three seasons! It was a fantastic achievement by the Two Left Feet team led by team captain Steven Fox, made, even more incredible by the fact the team had joined the season late taking over another team’s record of three losses. However, since joining the season, the Two Left Feet team went on an incredible 13 match run in which they only lost to defending champions YUK and drew with Pathetico Madrid to take the title! Two Left Feet now join an elite group of Match Night teams with two Premiership titles to their name and will no doubt be looking to make it three next season!
Two Left Feet - Two Times Premiership Winners!
Lead by team captain Mark Mowbray it was bad luck for Hemerage, although the runners up spot represents a fantastic achievement for the team – after promotion from the Championship two seasons ago. The team have been a real force in the Premiership and have now been placed fourth and second in their two Premiership campaigns. They will feel they now have the experience and skill to go one better next season and clinch their first Premiership title!
Hemerage - Premiership Runners Up!
North Wingfield Gladiators had another solid season finishing in third with NWA taking fourth place. Last season’s winners YUK finished in fifth and Manoovre City had a great first season in the Premiership after promotion from the Championship finishing a respectable sixth. The relegation places were settled before the last night with last season’s runners up Sixt FC relegated along with newly promoted Brett Martin. Both teams will no doubt be looking to bounce straight back next season! Pathetico Madrid did look certain to face the drop half way through the season but a fantastic second half to the season, which saw them only lose one of their last seven games, dragged them to safety by just the one point!
The golden boot went to Leigh Crofts from NWA with 21 goals, just edging out Manoovre City team captain Stephen Finch in second with 18 goals. The golden glove represented some consolation for third placed North Wingfield Gladiators and runners up Hemerage who were joint winners with a 21 goals conceded record and equal clean sheet records!
Congratulations to all teams who took part in a great season and best of luck in the new season which will kick off on 3rd September.
