Match Report by Nathan Benger Sixt FC
Sixt came into this game high on confidence after a great result against last season's runners up. They were looking to carry on their good form against Hemerage who had won the championship in the previous season and were the only team to take points of early pace setters YUK drawing 0-0 with them.
The game started and Sixt were playing the ball around passing well and creating chances early on, within the first 5 minutes Sixt had seen most of the ball and created 3 or 4 good chances and won a few corners but nothing came of this. The chances fell to Lee, Dave and Boothy but the keeper pulled off some good saves. You could see straight away why Hemerage had kept a clean sheet against YUK. Then Hemerage started to come into the game but Sixt kept strong at the back leaving them to shoot from way out, but they had a scare as a shot from nearly the half way line struck the Sixt post and woke Adam up into action. The first half came to a close with Sixt finishing stronger and Hemerage not creating anything.
The second half started as the first with Sixt having most of the play, Lee was dragging their back line about leaving space for Andrew and Dave to run into but Sixt just lacked that final delivery in the final third. Hemerage were running hard and working hard but the same as Sixt just lacked that little extra in the final third. Then came the breakthrough, after a neat ball by Nathan to Lee he returned the favour and Nathan slotted the ball home into the bottom corner leaving the keeper no chance to put Sixt 1-0 up. Sixt were defending dogged and had all six men behind the ball, Then another scare as Hemerage hit the post again and the ball trickled across Adam's area. Hemerage were putting a lot of pressure on but Sixt stood strong and were playing some neat football at the same time, then with 1 minute left Sixt broke from the back, Dave played a good pass into Nathan's run who stole away from the Hemerage defence and slotted home cooly to make it 2-0. For the final minute Sixt defended well and didn't let Hemerage have a sniff at goal.
Another great win which takes Sixt up to 3rd in the table, as North Wingfield dropped points. Sixt will be looking to keep this good run going. A great performance by all the boy's with Wilkes in goal making some important saves and good distribution of the ball, Boothy and John defending well not letting Hemerage have a sniff at the Sixt goal, Lee and Dave passing the ball well and making Hemerage work hard with Charge holding the ball up well up-front bringing others into play and Nathan scoring the 2 goals. Next week is a big fixture against last season's champions Two Left Feet and Sixt will look to keep this good run going.
